This song was written for a documentary about Israel for the British Council that was produced by my mate Gay Chris (pictured on my title page). I'm very proud of it, as I think it manages to capture the bold feel that I was hoping to convey.

 

However, it was not used on the documentary as it was considered too 'melancholic' for an upbeat programme. I think melancholic was a buzz word at the time for film students, and this is what ultimately deprived schoolchildren everywhere the chance to hear my fantastic music.

 

Chris did decide to use 'Blues' - another of my songs - on the documentary; presumably just so as not to upset me, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good.

 

Having not been to Israel, I didn't really know what I was supposed to write to capture the feel. Instead I tried to keep an image of Slough in my mind and work from there.
